REVERSE ENGINEERED OBJECT: SELECTION
After being assigned this blog post, I thought to myself "what are objects I use daily which are functional yet still complex and interesting enough to create in Rhino." This question gave me much pause, but after some wandering around my apartment, picking things up, and setting over a dozen little trinkets down on my desk, I narrowed it down to my three favorites.
Object #1: Refillable Perfume Bottles (Travalo)
I decided to pick a Travalo refillable perfume bottle because the design itself is sleek and practical. I use it almost every day while I go out and about and decide that I'd like to freshen up. I like that every nook and cranny of the item slides perfectly in and out, and is easily dissectible. Here is a video of me taking mine apart and an image of how this item functions.
Object #2 Betty Crocker Can Opener
After switching up ideas for things I use on the run, I decided to pick an object which I use every day while I'm at home, a can opener, and as a broke student, I love my assorted Campbell's soup value packs. With my trusty Betty Crocker can opener, I've used this object to enjoy countless meals, so I had to choose this as one of my options. Here is an image of how the can opener functions.
Object #3: Lysol spray
I realized after following the same thought process of picking the things I used the most, I chose my last option in the bunch, Lysol spray. I use this stuff quite a bit since my partner is a clean freak and I thought to myself that the top of the bottle and the sprayer itself could be really interesting to dissect on rhino. Here is an image of how the sprayer on the top of the bottle functions.
Conclusion:
After some consideration, I decided that the object which was most interesting for me to take apart and look at was the refillable perfume bottle, and I am really excited to see what I can come up with on Rhino.
